Product groups

Open Setup → Products / Services. The left side is the list of groups (with arrows to change the order) and the form to create one. The right side lists the products of each group.

A group has:

  • Group Name and URL Name (used in store links; made from the name when empty);
  • Headline and Tagline - the title and sub-title shown above the plans;
  • Order Form Template - the look of the plans page: Standard Cart and Modern (cards), Comparison Table (plans side by side in one table) or Slider (cards that scroll sideways);
  • Features - one per line, shown as a list on the product cards;
  • Hidden - keeps the group out of the store.

A group that still has products cannot be deleted; move or delete its products first. How the looks appear to the visitor is in The store and the cart.

Creating a product

Press Create a New Product (or Add product beside a group). The editor has nine tabs; a new product shows only Details until you save it, then jumps to Pricing.

Pricing

Payment Type is Free, One Time or Recurring. For each currency the grid has a Setup Fee row and a Price row with a column per cycle: Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annually, Annually, Biennially, Triennially. Leave a price empty to switch that cycle off. A product with no price in a client's currency cannot be ordered by that client.

Under Billing options:

  • Prorata Billing - see below.
  • Recurring Cycles Limit - stop billing after this many cycles (0 = unlimited).

Module Settings

Choose the Module Name - the provisioning module for this product (see Services and servers) - and the Server Group new services go to (None - use any server of the module). The module's own fields appear below, and Module Auto Setup can be set again here. With no module the product is set up by hand.

Custom Fields

Questions asked at order time and shown to staff, for example Preferred data centre. Each field has the same settings as a client field: Field Name, Field Type (Text Box, Text Area, Drop Down, Tick Box, Password, Link / URL), Description, Validation, Select Options, Display Order, Required, Admin only, Show on the order form, Show on the invoice.

Configurable Options

Tick the option groups that apply to this product. See below.

Upgrades

Tick the products of the same group that clients may upgrade or downgrade this product to. See Orders.

Free Domain

Choose None, Free domain (registration or transfer) or Free on registration only, then the Billing Cycles that earn it and the Extensions that come free.

Other

Associated Downloads (files the client gets once the service is active), Auto Terminate / Fixed Term (days after registration, 0 = never) and the Termination Email to send then.

Copyable links that send a visitor straight to the order form for this product, one per cycle (/cart/add/<id>), and the store page link. Use them in banners and e-mails.

On the product list, each row has arrows, Edit, Duplicate (the copy is hidden and named Copy of ...) and Delete. A product that already has services cannot be deleted - tick Retired instead.

Addons

Setup → Product Addons lists extras. An addon has a Name, Description, Billing Cycle (Free, One Time, Follow the product billing cycle, or one fixed cycle) with prices and setup fees per currency, and these switches: Tax, Show on Order, Hidden (from the client area), Retired, Allow Quantities, Prorata (align the due date with the product), Suspend Product (suspend the product when the addon is suspended). Activate chooses when it goes live: on first payment, when the order is placed, or by hand. Also set the Welcome Email, the Applicable Products it is offered with, Associated Downloads, Display Order, and an optional Module and Server Group. An addon in use cannot be deleted; retire it.

Configurable options

Setup → Configurable Options holds option groups, each with options that the client chooses and that change the price. Make a group (Group Name, Description), pick the Assigned Products, then Add Option. The option types are:

TypeThe client sees
DropdownA list of choices.
RadioThe choices as buttons.
Yes/NoOne tick box.
QuantityA number between a minimum and a maximum.

Each option has a name, an order, a Hidden switch and its choices; each choice has its own setup fee and price per cycle and currency. The chosen options are listed on the service, printed on the invoice and added to the price. Duplicate copies a group without its product assignments.

Promotions

Setup → Promotions has tabs All, Active and Expired. A promotion has:

FieldMeaning
Promotion CodeLetters, digits, dash and underscore; Generate Code invents one.
TypePercentage, Fixed Amount, Price Override (the price becomes the value) or Free Setup.
ValueThe percentage or the amount.
RecurringTick The discount continues on renewals, for a number of cycles (0 = every renewal).
Billing CyclesLimit it to some cycles (none ticked = all).
Applies ToAll products, All addons, All domains, or pick single products (optionally per cycle), addons and domain extensions.
Requires Products / Requires ExistingThe client must own one of these products, as an active service.
Start Date, Expiry DateEmpty expiry = never.
Maximum Uses0 = unlimited; the count so far is shown.
Lifetime Promotion, Apply Once, Once Per ClientHow long and how often it works.
New Signups Only, Existing Client OnlyWho may use it.
Allow UpgradesThe code also works on upgrades.

Expire Now ends a code at once. Clients enter the code in the cart; staff enter it on Add New Order.

Stock control

Tick Stock Control on a product and enter how many are in stock. Every unit ordered reduces the number, and when it reaches zero the product cannot be ordered: the order is refused with ... is out of stock. Top the number up in the Details tab. Setup → Order Form Settings → Show Stock Quantities shows the remaining count to buyers.

Pro-rata billing

Pro-rata lines every service up to one billing day of the month, so you can invoice everyone on, say, the 1st. On the Pricing tab:

  • Prorata Billing - charge only until the prorata date; from that date the service is billed on the normal cycle.
  • Prorata Date - the day of the month, 1 to 28 in effect (a higher number is treated as 28).
  • Charge Next Month - any number above 0 switches it on: an order placed within 14 days of the next prorata date also pays the following month in full, so a client who orders on the 28th does not get a 3-day invoice.

The first payment is the cycle price divided into days (a month counts 30.4375 days) times the days until the prorata date.

Order form settings

Setup → Order Form Settings sets, for the whole store: the Default Order Form Template, and the switches Show Product Descriptions, Show Stock Quantities, Sidebar on the Cart, Domain Renewals in the Cart, Redirect After Checkout (straight to the invoice), Require Terms of Service and its URL. The Sign-up fields table ticks which client fields a new client must fill in; first and last name are always required.
