Mobile Wallet (Rocket)

The offline gateway for a personal Rocket, Upay, Nagad or bKash number: wallet settings, the client transaction report, Payment Pending and recording the payment.

The Mobile Wallet plugin (shown in the lists as Mobile Wallet (Rocket / Upay / personal), code rocket) is an offline gateway for shops that take money on a personal or agent mobile-wallet number: Rocket, Upay, Nagad personal or bKash personal. There is no merchant account and no connection to any provider. The invoice shows your wallet number, the client sends the money from their phone and tells you the transaction ID, and you confirm the payment when the money is in. It is free and takes any currency, though it is mostly used in BDT. If you do have a merchant account, use bKash or Nagad instead, which confirm payments for you. See Payment gateways for what all gateways share.

Switching it on

  1. Open Setup → Payment Gateways, tab All Payment Gateways, press Activate on Mobile Wallet.
  2. Choose the Wallet type, type the Wallet number, save.
  3. Look at an unpaid invoice in the client area to see what the client sees.

The plugin holds one wallet at a time. To change the wallet, change the two settings.

Settings

Wallet typeRocket, Upay, Nagad personal or bKash personal. Which wallet clients send the money to.
Wallet numberThe number clients send money to, for example 01700000000.
Account typePersonal, Agent or Merchant. Shown to the client so that they pick Send Money, Cash Out or Payment correctly.
Let clients report a paymentYes by default. Shows a small form on the invoice where the client enters the transaction ID.

Without a wallet number the invoice shows This payment method is not set up yet: the wallet number is missing.

What the client sees

On an unpaid invoice the box reads Please send (the amount) to the (wallet) (account type) number below, then tell us the transaction id. Below it are the wallet number and the reference Invoice #number. If reporting is on, a form follows: Transaction id (TrxID), an optional Number you sent from, and the button I have paid. The transaction ID is required and may be up to 60 characters.

When the client sends the form:

  • the invoice status becomes Payment Pending;
  • a line is added to the invoice's Admin Notes, with the wallet, the date, the transaction ID and the sending number;
  • a line is written to the Activity Log;
  • you get a bell notice, (wallet) payment reported, and the administrators get an e-mail, Invoice Payment Notification, whose transaction field says (reported, not yet confirmed);
  • the client sees a thank-you and, on the invoice, a note that the report is being checked.

Typical workflow

  1. The client orders and gets an invoice. They choose Mobile Wallet, send the money and report the transaction ID.
  2. You see the bell notice or open Billing → Invoices and the tab Payment Pending.
  3. Check the transaction ID and the amount in your wallet app or statement.
  4. If it is right, open the invoice, go to the tab Add Payment, enter the amount, the date, Mobile Wallet as the payment method and the transaction ID, and save. The invoice turns Paid and the service is set up as usual.
  5. If it is not right, write to the client (the invoice keeps the report in its notes). The invoice stays Payment Pending until you act.

There is no callback for this gateway, and no refund call; record refunds on the invoice's Refund tab with Offline refund (record only). See Invoices and payments.

Tips

  • A client can report only while the invoice is Unpaid. A second report is not possible once it is Payment Pending; ask the client to write to support to correct a wrong ID.
  • Switch Let clients report a payment off if you prefer to match payments only by your own statement. The client then just sees the number and the reference.
  • Put the phone number of your shop in Payment instructions so that a client can call if they get stuck.

Troubleshooting

  • This payment method is not set up yet on the invoice: the wallet number is empty.
  • The gateway is missing from the invoice: it is not activated, or it is not in the list on Setup → Payment Gateways.
  • The client cannot report: the invoice is not Unpaid, the transaction ID is empty, or it is longer than 60 characters (Please give the transaction id.).
  • Nothing shows in Billing → Gateway Log for this gateway. That is normal, because it has no callback. Look at the Activity Log and the invoice notes instead.
